Ukraine is split again: the South-East supported Lukashenko, the West supported the opposition
Ukrainian society is divided in its assessment of the current events in Belarus, where the opposition is seeking the removal of President Alexander Lukashenko from power.
This, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
In total, Lukashenko was supported by 31,3% of respondents, 45,3% by protesters, and 23,4% could not decide on an answer.
The regional data turned out to be quite eloquent.
In the West, support for Lukashenko turned out to be minimal - 20,3%, while 58% supported the opposition. Similar figures in the Center: 26,5% and 50,6%.
A completely different picture is observed in the southeastern regions, where more than 40% support Lukashenko, and less than a third support his opponents.
The largest number of supporters of the Belarusian president among the presidential electorate of Yuri Boyko, who is considered pro-Russian, is 71,4%, the minimum (4,1%) is among the electorate of ex-president Petro Poroshenko).
Let us note that there is quite high (about a third) support for Lukashenko among the electorate of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the scandalous politician, leader of the Radical Party Oleg Lyashko.
The survey took place from September 12 to 16 based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers, excluding Crimea and the Donbass territories not controlled by Kyiv. The sample is representative of the adult population. A total of 2000 interviews were conducted. The statistical sampling error (with a probability of 0,95 and taking into account the design effect of 1,1) does not exceed: 2,2% for indicators close to 50%, 2,1% for indicators close to 25%, 1,4% - for rates close to 10%.
