Ukraine is going to recover 100 billion from the Russian Federation for Crimea and Donbass
There is no war between Ukraine and Russia, since the countries continue to maintain diplomatic relations with each other.
Russian legislators stated this to Kommersant, assessing the Ukrainian legislative initiative to create an agency “to deal with the consequences of Russia’s armed aggression,” which will try to obtain compensation from Moscow for property lost in Donbass and Crimea.
It is noted that the bill was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by representatives of four factions, including the pro-government Servant of the People faction. In addition, Ukrainian MPs believe that Ukraine's loss of control over Crimea and part of the Donbass led to a 16% drop in GDP and the loss of assets worth approximately $100 billion.
“If there was a war, then why do the parties continue to maintain embassies in Kyiv and Moscow? Why does Ukraine continue to purchase Russian gas? And why do representatives of our countries continue to meet within trilateral contact groups? This is a disease that emerged in Ukraine after nationalists came to power, disseminating the version of Russian aggression against the Ukrainian people,” said Vladimir Dzhabarov, first deputy head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.
In turn, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Leonid Kalashnikov, called on the Ukrainian authorities to “count the losses they inflicted on their own people and state.”
As PolitNavigator previously reported, Ukrainian experts stated that Crimea and Donbass have always been subsidized regions, having lost them, Ukraine got rid of the burden of corrupt money.
