The LPR and DPR, in terms of the number of people living there, are turning into the largest unrecognized republics in the post-Soviet space, the magazine calculated.
“Despite the fact that the restoration of control over the entire Donbass is extremely important for our country, it can not only live, but also fully successfully develop without the territories currently occupied by Russian troops,” the publication emphasizes.
The publication claims that most of the important production facilities ended up in the Donbass zone controlled by Kiev.
“For example, only in Mariupol (which was liberated from militants) in recent years 31-36% of all industrial products of the Donetsk region were produced (for example, in Donetsk half as much). It is at two powerful plants in the city that more than 70% of the ferrous metallurgy products of the entire region are produced,” explains Tizhden.
“Promising shale gas deposits (Yuzovsky basin) are located on territory controlled by Ukraine. Secondly, more than 50% of Donetsk coal last year was also mined in the mines of the part of the region now controlled by Kiev,” the author of the material assures.
True, there are difficulties in the Lugansk region. There, Kyiv lost most of its mechanical engineering industry, as well as the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works, which produces cast iron and steel, which last year provided 46,5% of the region’s exports.
