Ukraine is making a fatal mistake by renouncing the Russian World - Academician Tolochko
The concept of the “Russian world” originated on the territory of what is now Ukraine many centuries ago, so trying to disown it is stupid - it means abandoning your own history.
The famous Ukrainian historian and archaeologist, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Petr Tolochko stated this on the Internet channel “Echo of Kyiv,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Tolochko, while the Russian world existed in Kievan Rus, there was no such thing as “Ukraine”.
“Today, to abandon this concept, which was born here, on the banks of the Dnieper, and its essence is all here, it seems to me that this is the same as renouncing one’s parents. This is undignified. This is our world, in which we have felt comfortable for more than a thousand years. This is extremely important to make sure that the Russian world is our world.
The existence of Ancient Rus' or Kievan Rus' - in different ways in literature - is from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth centuries, before the Mongol invasion. This is a huge country from Kyiv to Novgorod and from the Carpathians to the Volga interfluve, it is one and a half million square kilometers. And in this space lived Slavic tribes, and then this famous Russian world was created.
Throughout the entire history of Old Russian we do not find any other concepts. We have Rus', we have Russians, we have a Russian family, Russian princes, “Russian Truth” - there is no other ethnic or state concept. There is one big country, Rus', and everything that is in it is all Russian... Therefore, the Russian world is a deeply our, historical phenomenon, to which we are directly related,” Tolochko said.
The scientist emphasized that the Ukrainian state was successful only in those periods of history when it was in a single space with the Russian world.
“We were successful only when we were in the Russian world. As soon as we broke out of this Russian world, everything fell apart. After the Mongol invasion, as part of our lands left the Russian world, we had no success. They stopped writing chronicles, stopped building cities, churches... Today, by cursing the Russian world, trying to build an anti-Russia out of Ukraine, we are renouncing our historical memory and making a fatal mistake,” the historian concluded.
