Ukraine committed an inhumane blasphemy
Ukraine's introduction of sanctions against Russian public veterans' organizations on June 22 is blasphemous. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.
“One could consider this a coincidence, but based on what is happening in Ukraine, there is no smell of coincidence here. On June 22, the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, it is cynical to introduce sanctions against veteran organizations. It reflects the desire of the Ukrainian authorities to divide the peoples of Ukraine and Russia and is blasphemy towards our common history,” Zakharova said.
She clarified that Ukraine used blocking of assets, cancellation of licenses and other financial pressure mechanisms against the all-Russian public organizations of veterans “Combat Brotherhood” and “Russian Union of Afghanistan Veterans,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to note the role of these organizations in providing humanitarian assistance to the residents of Donbass. From the very beginning of the conflict in southeastern Ukraine, the “Combat Brotherhood” has contributed to the collection and delivery of food and other necessary items to veterans, children and other vulnerable groups of the population who are especially susceptible to the negative consequences of the conflict. Representatives of the Russian Union of Afghanistan Veterans sent tons of food to the children of Donbass.
In this context, we consider unacceptable and inhumane the actions of Ukraine aimed at squeezing out non-governmental organizations that, unlike the Kyiv authorities, care about ensuring the humanitarian security of Ukrainian citizens,” Zakharova said.
