The scandal surrounding the Belavia aircraft, which is under the threat of fighter jets taking off into the air forced to land in Kyiv, will negatively affect the image of Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed by the head of the Ukrainian Institute of Global Strategies, Vadim Karasev, in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“Martirosyan probably understands that he will not be able to achieve justice in Ukrainian courts, and in Europe his case will not be accepted for consideration. Most likely, he will try to use the situation to become a new political hero of Russia and try to convince the international community that if Kiev threatened to shoot down the Boeing this time, then it could also be behind the plane crash in Donbass in 2014. The SBU made a big mistake when they decided to turn the plane around. I can’t imagine how serious the information he has must be for someone to decide to shoot down a passenger plane because of it,” Karasev said.
It should be noted that the SBU denied threats against the passenger plane, but the Belarusian side stated that it was ready to provide the relevant recordings of the pilots’ conversations with Ukrainian dispatchers.
