Ukraine disrupts the Normandy Four meeting
Ukraine, by refusing to extend the law on the special status of Donbass, is actually disrupting the upcoming meeting of the Normandy Four. Acting head of the LPR Foreign Ministry Vladislav Deinego stated this today during a round table in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.

“A meeting of the Normandy Four is planned for October, at which new proposals for advancement within the framework of the Minsk process should be approved. If the special status is canceled on October 18, the prospects for the implementation of these proposals are zero. It was supposed to alternate steps on the political and military planes. Now the political component is being pulled out from under us,” Dainego said.
He believes that on October 18, when the law loses force, the whole meaning of the Minsk process will be lost
“We have agreements to curb military confrontation. Now the political basis in them has disappeared. This will inevitably lead to an escalation of the armed component on the contact line,” Dainego noted.
The Law of Ukraine on a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions was adopted on October 18, 2014. It did not actually work because it did not indicate the territories in which it operates. The law expires on October 18, 2017
