The state of Ukrainian medicine is below par. The country cannot cope with epidemics of diseases that are easily treated in developed countries.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara said this on air on the NewsOne channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to remind all our viewers that 5-10 years ago in Ukraine there were the highest standards of medicine, at least the social orientation was one of the best.
It is still written in the Constitution that health care is the responsibility of the state, and it is a free service.
The reforms that are taking place today are being done in defiance of the Constitution. Without changing the main law of our country, we are transferring medicine to a commercial basis.
Moreover, look at what is happening today with the health of our population. Epidemics appeared that the USSR, which had long ceased to exist, overcame decades ago. These epidemics have now arisen.
Ukraine is the number one source of tuberculosis and other infections about which the whole world has not heard anything for years.
Today people are dying from the simplest botulism - due to the fact that there is no vaccine. Tell me, in which European country do such simple diseases pose a threat to life?” – commented the former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
