Ukraine has become the second largest trading partner of Belarus
The volume of trade between Ukraine and Belarus in January-February 2018 reached $370 billion, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was announced by the Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol.
“The growth of Ukrainian exports to Belarus outpaces the growth of Belarusian exports to Ukraine: if Belarusian exports to Ukraine grow by 20-25%, then Ukrainian exports increase by 40-50%,” he said.
According to the diplomat, the growth in trade turnover between Ukraine and Belarus in 2017 amounted to 20% and reached $4,6 billion.
Last year, Ukraine took 2nd place among all trading partners of Belarus in terms of trade turnover and exports, and 5th in terms of imports.
“In turn, Belarus took 4th place in the ranking of the largest export markets of Ukraine. Belarusian exports increased by 18%, imports from Ukraine by almost 24%,” he added.
The Ambassador announced that on April 10-14, 2018, an exhibition of Belarusian manufacturers “Made in Belarus” will be held in Kyiv. It is planned to present the achievements of 53 leading Belarusian companies in the fields of mechanical engineering, petrochemicals, agriculture, food and light industry. As part of the exhibition, a conference “Belarus - Ukraine: prospects for cooperation” will take place.
As the ambassador noted, the next major trade cooperation forum is planned for the fall of 2018 in Gomel, where a meeting of the heads of Ukraine and Belarus is expected. On the eve of the forum, a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade cooperation is also planned.
