Ukraine is becoming an arena of fierce confrontation between American parties
The United States needs Ukraine not so much as an element of the anti-Russian “cordon sanitaire”, but as Anti-Russia.
Vladimir Batyuk, chief researcher at the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Kommersant about this.
“The situation when Ukraine found itself in the epicenter of the US presidential election campaign looks absurd from the point of view of realpolitik. A country that is not important to American foreign policy, either as a threat to US national security or as a trade and economic partner, suddenly becomes the subject of a fierce confrontation,” the expert said.
According to him, the problem is that American politicians are moving away from “good old political realism, and therefore any hypothetical deal with Moscow on Ukraine will be perceived as a betrayal of the values on which America stands.”
“The United States needs Ukraine not so much as an element of an anti-Russian “cordon sanitaire”, but as Anti-Russia,” Batyuk emphasized.
Earlier, it was repeatedly reported that US President Donald Trump insists that the Ukrainian authorities investigate the case of Ukrainian interference in the 2016 American elections and proceed with the corruption case of former Vice President Joe Biden, whose son received a “bread” position in Ukraine. Biden is expected to become the Democratic candidate in the US presidential election next year.
As PolitNavigator reported, Biden admitted that he blackmailed Kyiv and interfered in the internal affairs of Ukraine.
