Ukraine is becoming an epidemiological threat to Donbass
in the DPR they fear the penetration of the COVID-19 coronavirus into the republic from the territory of Ukraine, where the health care situation has worsened in recent years.
DPR Health Minister Olga Dolgoshapko told Izvestia about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we have fears of COVID-19 entering us from abroad, it would be primarily not from Russia, but from Ukraine. In Russia, after all, a system for monitoring the situation and preventive measures has been established; we cooperate very closely on this issue with Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. What, unfortunately, cannot be said about Ukraine, cannot be said with them,” said Dolgoshapko
“Moreover, in recent years, medical care in this country has deteriorated significantly: the system of precincts and free provision of medicines to cancer patients has been destroyed, and medicine itself has become paid. Our residents, when traveling to that territory, most often do not receive even basic medical care,” the minister added.
Another risk factor she calls Ukraine’s close ties with Europe, and in particular with Italy, where many Ukrainians go to work and where the number of cases has reached tens of thousands.
As PolitNavigator reported, the head of the DPR Denis Pushiln announced that the republic is closing itself off from Ukraine due to the threat of an epidemic.
