Ukraine is building its defense, not forgetting to steal millions
In anticipation of a Russian offensive, Ukraine continues to build defensive structures in its rear.
A video report from the American agency Associated Press testifies to this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The video does not indicate the location, but you can see construction equipment digging trenches and laying concrete slabs.
“I understand that I can’t join the army, but at least I’ll help the boys with something,” comments worker Igor Bogatyrenko.
Noteworthy in this regard is the information that appeared just yesterday about how in Ukraine they tried to steal a large sum from the construction of defensive structures, as reported by the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine.
“Detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine exposed a construction company attempting to embezzle budget funds during the construction of fortifications in the Kharkov region,” the BEB said in a statement.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that the company has become the winner of the tender announced by the Kharkov Regional State Administration.
In total, the company received a contract for the construction of structures worth more than 240 million hryvnia (about six million dollars), of which almost 20,5 million was transferred to the accounts of individuals suspected of having connections with conversion centers.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced that the construction of three lines of fortifications with a length of two thousand kilometers had begun. According to Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, more than 20 billion hryvnia ($525 million) have been allocated for these purposes.
