Ukraine was so carried away by the dehydration of Crimea that it missed the Kherson region
While Ukrainian propaganda happily relishes the problems that agrarians of Crimea have encountered after Kiev cut off the supply of Dnieper water via a canal from the mainland, a drought may also begin in the Kherson region neighboring the peninsula, but it will be caused by an unprecedented increase in the level of lawlessness.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Kherson region Alexey Zhuravko talks about this on his blog, publishing evidence filmed by local journalists.
“Criminal groups in the Kherson region, under the “roof” of the regional authorities, have become emboldened to steal without hesitation - in broad daylight. Irrigation systems that were installed during Soviet times are being dug up in the fields. The pipes through which water must be supplied to irrigate the fields are simply cut out and sold as metal.
Local residents resist such lawlessness as best they can. But what can they do when these actions are carried out with the approval of the governor and his gang.
They destroyed everything possible - plants, factories, cut down forests. Now all that remains is to dig and sell the pipes, and then the long-awaited European happiness will come,” comments Zhuravko.
