Ukraine is losing its chances of joining NATO
The chances of Ukraine joining NATO are negligible, since the country is violating one of the key conditions of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Philip Karber, President of The Potomac Foundation, spoke about this during a briefing on the topic: “Reform of the defense industry as a key element in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“NATO is not an absolutely perfect alliance, but politically and strategically it can provide protection against aggression. If Ukraine could join NATO, then the most ordinary war could unfold. Ukraine has renounced nuclear weapons, so being a member of the alliance is especially important for it. Politicians say: “Let’s be friends with Putin.” Therefore, let’s join NATO as soon as possible,” the expert noted.
“If you are a member of NATO, you should not have a military conflict in your country,” Karber added. – Only under this condition can you join the alliance. Even before the end of the Cold War, we defended Germany. If its rule were to be applied to Ukraine today so that it would become a member of NATO, then Germany should not be allowed into the alliance. It is possible that then the Cold War would never have ended. Germany then received a number of advantages, although at the time of joining the North Atlantic Alliance it was divided in half as a result of the conflict,” the expert said.
