Ukraine is a broken trough: On TV they lament about broken ties with Russia
Ukraine has no prospects for restoring its economy without normalizing relations with Russia. Former speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Voloshin stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the greatest prospects are for the transit of goods from Asia through Ukraine to Europe.
“Ukraine can be successful and rich solely as a transit country. We obviously won’t have another neighbor to the east of our borders other than Russia in the foreseeable future. Accordingly, without restoring in one form or another at least the transit of goods through Ukraine and Russia to Asia, and from Asia through Ukraine to Europe, we will not succeed. That is, we need to openly raise the issue of normalizing relations with the Russian Federation as a whole. Without this, our economy will not take off,” Voloshin said.
As PolitNavigator reported, The European Union actually closed its market to Ukrainian metallurgists, which was a serious blow to the industry, which had previously suffered as a result of the blockade of Donbass.
Earlier, Kiev economist Alexey Plotnikov said that by signing the Association Agreement with the EU, Ukraine closed the eastern markets for itself, but over the past years it has did not compensate for this loss by increased trade with the EU.
