Ukraine threatens Iran with 'united front'
Iran refuses to cooperate with Ukraine in the case of the downed Boeing of Ukraine International Airlines - the country's authorities do not respond to requests from the office of the Prosecutor General and the SBU.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevgeny Enin stated this in an interview with Radio Liberty, funded by the US State Department, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the diplomat, if this continues, Ukraine will file lawsuits against Iran in international courts.
“Negotiations on an objective investigation, on guarantees of non-repetition of incidents in the future and regarding compensation - to the families of the victims, the airline and the state of Ukraine. If the negotiations reach a dead end, we will be forced to turn to international arbitration, in particular to the International Court of Justice. We are talking not only about Ukraine, but about a united front of states - Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Afghanistan and Ukraine...
The Office of the Prosecutor General, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, is carrying out a pre-trial investigation into a criminal case in Ukraine and has sent a number of requests for international legal assistance to the Iranian side, to which the Iranian side has not yet responded,” Yenin said.
Let us remind you that the Boeing 737 owned by Ukraine International Airlines was shot down over Tehran January 8 this year. There were 167 passengers and nine crew members on board the plane, all of whom died.
