Ukraine threatens to retake Crimea, but later
Ukraine will not yet start a war over Crimea, so it wants to make sanctions against Russia so strong that it itself will return the peninsula.
Deputy Head of the Security Council of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos stated this on the Dom TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the official, at the same time, Ukraine should not exclude forceful scenarios for the development of the situation.
“We clearly understand that Ukraine cannot solve the problem by force at this stage. There is a problem that... firstly, this is the war in Donbass. We will not be able to wage a war on two fronts, even legally returning our land. Firstly, in terms of material and technical potential, in terms of human resources. And these are, first of all, human losses.
Therefore, task number one is to continue to actively cooperate with world leaders, raise the issue of increasing sanctions against the Russian Federation and bring Russia with these sanctions to such a level that they will either give up Crimea or be left without pants. Plus, at the same time, strengthen the country’s defense capability, which will make it possible to use force if necessary,” Krivonos said.
