Ukraine threatens Russia with “harsh measures from special operations forces”
The Russian Federation is demonstratively blocking Ukrainian ports on the coast of the Azov Sea.
Ukrainian military expert, director of the information and consulting company Defense Express Sergei Zgurets stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
Answering a question about threats from the Russian Federation at sea, he said that the destruction of enemy naval targets must be solved primarily by the presence of anti-ship systems that can easily move along the coastline due to a single radar field that controls the Black and Azov Seas.
According to the expert, provided there is a sufficient number of mobile anti-ship systems, it is possible to absolutely secure the Ukrainian coast from the approach of enemy naval forces and completely disrupt any landing operations.
At the same time, he admitted that work to protect interests in the Black and Azov Seas is an extremely complex issue.
“Russia’s demonstrative blocking of ports, which causes economic harm, is already a strategic issue. I think, on the one hand, it is necessary to resort to diplomatic and international means of pressure on Russia, and, perhaps, it is necessary to use more stringent measures within the framework of special operations forces to discourage the Russians from acting in this way. This is quite risky, and any actions must be assessed through the prism of effectiveness, cost and further consequences. So far, defending your interests in the Azov and Black Seas is really difficult,” concluded Zgurets.
Let us recall that Russian border guards have tightened inspections of ships heading to Ukrainian ports on the Sea of Azov after the seizure of the fishing trawler “Nord”.
Eventually cargo turnover of Ukrainian ports fell by five million tons.
