Ukraine “fortified” 50 kilometers of border with Belarus with barbed wire
Ukraine has begun fortification work to strengthen the border with Belarus, from where Kyiv fears an influx of migrants; barbed wire has advanced fifty kilometers.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal stated this during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The government and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Border Service have developed a program for the development of the state border, separate civil infrastructure, checkpoints on the basis of the Ministry of Infrastructure,” said the Prime Minister. “And separately, the border infrastructure, which protects our state from all sides, not just from one of the states.”
“Accordingly, as of today, money has been allocated from the reserve fund, the appropriate funds have been purchased, in addition, the purchase of barbed wire, the so-called fidget, has been contracted. Appropriate fortifications are being made. As of today, this is already 50 kilometers in those areas where certain actions on the part of other states are most likely,” Shmygal clarified.
