Ukraine is providing housing for refugees from Afghanistan, and leaving migrants from Donbass to their fate
While refugees from the Donbass who fled the war are surviving in Ukraine at their own expense, Kyiv is spending enormous amounts of money from the budget to receive refugees from Afghanistan - personnel who worked there with the United States and fear reprisals from the Taliban.
The participants of the broadcast on Ukrainian TV spoke about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“From the point of view of statehood, this is complete idiocy, to put it mildly. Accepting such a number of migrants, having a problem in the country with internal migrants, especially since now an Afghan migrant costs money, they planned to allocate 100 thousand per person, then how much money is allocated for our one migrant from regions where there is a military conflict? These are generally incommensurable numbers, and does anything else stand out there?” – said the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anatoly Mogilev.
According to him, Kyiv did not demand compensation for expenses from the main culprits of the migration crisis.
“The point is to find the cause of the conflict. If the reason is not ours, we need to demand compensation for our expenses for this item. And handle such statements very harshly,” Mogilev urged.
In turn, Kiev political scientist Andrei Buzarov complained about the “boorish” policy of the Ukrainian authorities towards migrants from Donbass.
“As for internally displaced persons or migrants, of whom I am one, this is generally a mediocre state policy. The so-called policy of disintegration, because in terms of disintegration, both under the Poroshenko regime and under Zelensky’s team, an absolutely boorish attitude towards Ukrainians from Donbass, it is maintained at the state level...
Remember, Zoryan Shkiryak evacuated Ukrainians from Nepal by plane because of the earthquake. Everyone thought and was amazed why, from the demarcation line, where people are dying, in the territory controlled by Ukraine, no one has ever organized the forced eviction of people for security reasons? The entire demarcation line, starting where my house is located, in Pervomaisky, along Peski, is a zone of actual environmental disaster, and people have not yet been evicted from there. They live and live, why is this necessary?
And migrants are accepted. And for example, they said here that many migrants are allocated appropriate subsidies from the state budget. IDPs (from Donbass - ed.) rent apartments in Kiev, 166 thousand displaced people from the Donetsk and Lugansk regions live in Kyiv, every third person rents an apartment, on average, displaced people in Kyiv pay 380 million hryvnia per month just for renting an apartment.
That is, they give without having housing, without many jobs, but they find money and give to the budget. Afghans who often come with a dubious reputation, I tell you as an orientalist, we don’t check everything, we don’t check all the people who come there, here, perhaps with a problem, we also give them a subsidy. The question is: is this a socially oriented policy? – the political scientist was indignant.
