Ukraine created a fuel crisis for Moldova - Kyiv pumped out all the diesel for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukrainian oil traders bought up all Moldovan transport companies that transported fuel.
This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Moldova Vladimir Bolya at a meeting in Gagauzia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There were problems with fuel supplies, because Ukraine gave immensely: as much as you want, I’ll give you as much, just give me diesel fuel. Therefore, transport prices have also increased. We paid 45 euros to transport one ton to the airport in Romania. They told the transporters: we give 85. And where are our transport workers? Everything is in Ukraine. Everything is being transported there today. They bought diesel fuel from our people,” said Bolya.
Back at the end of July, the Chisinau Center for Analysis, Research and Forecasting Balkan-Centre reported on impending protests by farmers.
“Sporadic protests by farmers against rising diesel prices are being announced in Moldova. In addition to its continuously growing cost, Moldovan farmers often face the problem of finding this same fuel in the quantities and volumes necessary for agricultural work. Significant volumes of diesel from Moldova are simply pumped out by neighboring Ukraine, which needs it to ensure the mobility of its troops and armored vehicles,” the analytical note said.
