Ukraine will no longer receive the volumes of gas necessary for transit
Kyiv should not expect that it can count on any acceptable results in the gas issue.
Energy market expert Dmitry Marunich writes about this in his blog, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, in the conditions of more profitable Nord Stream branches for Russia, Ukraine will no longer receive the volumes of gas needed for transit.
“No agreements acceptable to Kyiv and Moscow can be reached while the parties remain in their current positions. Gazprom will never again supply let alone 140, or even 100 billion cubic meters for transit through Ukraine. m of gas, which does not provide grounds for reducing the transit rate. Consequently, it will be uncompetitive in comparison with SP and SP-2, there is not even a rate, but depreciation. The EC, of course, does not want to lose money invested in Ukraine. However, the EC no longer wants to freeze in winter. The only realistic scenario for achieving a compromise is increased consumption in the EU. However, there are also enough people willing for new volumes, from the USA to Azerbaijan and Algeria,” Marunich said.
