Ukraine outwitted itself in negotiations on Donbass
Kyiv advocated so strongly for the involvement of the United States in negotiations on Donbass that it did not notice how it itself was left out of work. Now the fate of Ukraine is being decided between Moscow and Washington, forcing Ukraine to begin direct negotiations with the LDPR. The ex-representative of Ukraine in the Minsk contact group, Roman Bessmertny, said this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“What happened is that all this shaking that took place in the Normandy format and the Minsk process was replaced by a conversation between Washington and Moscow.
And, in fact, the paradoxical situation that emerges from this is that both Ukraine and Moscow wanted this. For Ukraine, this is a very positive thing that Washington and Moscow entered into a direct dialogue, but what happened is that now they are talking about us without us.
And there, it’s not us who speak, we are pushed to talk with these self-appointed leaders.
This nuance suggests that Ukraine needs to play a chess game that would allow Kurt Volker to be included in the “Normandy format”, and to make the Ukrainian side a participant for three at the level of communication with Kurt Volker. And then we will receive a political answer, we will stop humiliating ourselves in our own eyes,” said Bessmertny.
