There is a colossal decline in the economy in Ukraine - the National Bank began printing money that was supposed to come from tax revenues. All this is aggravated by the debt to the IMF, the bulk of which will need to be paid in September.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated this on the talk show “Freedom of Speech,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are now facing fundamental challenges that are now hidden behind the cover of our big political battles.
The first big circumstance that needs to be taken into account is that the budget has ceased to receive planned tax revenues. The budget today is replenished by a significant part with printed emission money of the National Bank. It's hidden. This means that the economy is stagnating and falling. No one takes this into account or takes it into account.
The second challenge that faces us, and while there are elections, I am convinced that no one will even come up with ideas about what to do about it, is that in September we will have a peak volume of repayment of external debt. Two billion dollars. This is more than 50 billion hryvnia, this is terrible money.
And today there is no extension of the program with the IMF, there is no cooperation with normal creditors in the world. It’s just that everything was left to the mercy of fate, everyone went to the polls,” Tymoshenko said.
