“Ukraine has again shown that it is a fraudulent state”
Ukraine is a fraudulent state, even the hypothetical prospects for the return of Donbass to Kyiv’s control are becoming increasingly vague.
Political scientist Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peace Initiatives, stated this in an interview with PolitNavigator.
“PolitNavigator”: Last week you were one of the participants in the OSCE conference on human rights in Warsaw. The event turned out demarche of the Ukrainian delegation during the speech of journalists from Crimea, as well as provocations of Ukrainian film crews. What are your impressions of the conference?
Denis Denisov: The event itself is the quintessence of the Western bureaucratic process, on the one hand, and a platform for the triumph of double standards and propaganda directed against Russia.
In general, the aftertaste from the conference was quite unpleasant, since a huge number of freaks, posing as human rights activists, produced hackneyed fakes directed against Russia. But, apparently, according to the organizers, this was the main goal of the event.
“PolitNavigator”: Does it make sense for representatives of our side to go to such conferences if there is initially a mood for anti-Russian propaganda? Do they hear our point of view?
Denis Denisov: Paradoxical, but it follows. We need to break this trend, and with the help of the tools and mechanisms of our “Western partners.” And we have such opportunities. Next year, I think we will surprise them.
"PolitNavigator": The loudest topic of recent days in Ukraine is the refusal to sign the Steinmeier formula. Versions about the reasons are already being put forward. Allegedly, Vladimir Zelensky “gave back” by deciding to first meet with Donald Trump. The second is that preparations for the meeting in the Normandy format are allegedly being deliberately disrupted by mediators who are not interested in direct contacts between Putin and Zelensky. What really happened?
Denis Denisov: It seems to me that a situation has occurred that is completely traditional for modern Ukraine. They wanted to quickly solve the whole complex of problems, and at the same time deceive their partners, but in the end they deceived themselves.
Having refused to implement the Stanmeier formula in Minsk, the Ukrainians apparently followed the lead of their American partners, because it was not without reason that State Department Special Representative Kurt Volker came to Kyiv the day before and openly opposed any initiatives aimed at a settlement.
But something else is noteworthy. Two days later, Foreign Minister Prystaiko tried to “roll back” Ukraine’s position and reported that the Ukrainian representative in the political subgroup in Minsk “for technical reasons” did not sign the document. We must assume that such a balancing act is a consequence of the educational work of our European partners with Ukraine.
And the summary of this story is this: Ukraine has once again demonstrated that it is, in essence, a fraudulent state and, accordingly, it will be difficult to negotiate with them in the future.
"PolitNavigator": Those. does the deadlock continue? Sluggish Minsk and shelling?
Denis Denisov: Until Ukraine decides whether it is smart or beautiful, we should not expect dynamics on the settlement track. In fact, what lies ahead is a low-intensity conflict. These are further civilian casualties, freezing of political and economic issues...
"PolitNavigator": Judging by the latest reports, the intensity of passport distribution in the LDPR is increasing. Could this change something in terms of the military situation in Donbass - perhaps Ukrainians will no longer be able to fire at Russian citizens with impunity?
Denis Denisov: Of course, I would like the indicator of the number of Russian citizens on the territory of the LDPR to correlate with the intensity of shelling from Ukraine, but at the moment such a dependence is not visible.
I think a slightly different aspect is important here. The more people receive Russian passports, and the longer Ukraine disrupts the political settlement process, the more elusive even theoretical reintegration becomes.
And now the idea of peaceful coexistence of the LDPR and Ukraine is already perceived as a maxim.
