Ukraine will join the EU “after Turkey”, that is, never
Ukraine cannot become a member of the EU in the foreseeable future, which is stated in the Association Agreement with the EU.
Economic expert Viktor Skarshevsky stated this on the NEWSONE channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“One of the high-ranking former officials of the European Commission once said that Ukraine will become an EU member immediately after Turkey, but Turkey will never become one. These are all prospects - Ukraine will never be a member of the EU in the next 50-70 years.
The Association Agreement precisely establishes the fact that Ukraine will not be a member of the EU. There's not a word about it. And what the Netherlands pushed through and what comes as an annex to this agreement is that Ukraine not only will not become a member of the EU, but also cannot lay claim to EU funds, like, for example, EU member Poland, and cannot claim a collective security system.” , said the expert.
The EU is not giving Ukraine even the money that was promised as part of macro-financial assistance.
“Today the president will meet with European leaders. The first question that I (if I were him) would ask is where is the 600 million euros? This is the first tranche of the loan agreement. It was agreed that the first tranche of 1 billion 200 million euros, after the signing of the relevant law, will automatically go to Ukraine, without any additional conditions,” the expert recalled.
