Ukraine is on the warpath with Russian children

Crimean fathers and mothers with relatives in Ukraine had to face an unexpected problem: it turned out that babies born in Crimea after 2014 and having a Russian birth certificate simply cannot enter the territory of Ukraine, because, according to Ukrainian border guards, these children simply no, that means they can’t cross the border, пишет "Moscow's comsomolets".

“No one will just let a child born in Russian Crimea into Ukraine. Border guards will immediately ask for documents for the child. Since the birth certificate will be Russian, the border guards will immediately wrap up the family - for them these are not documents, but just pieces of paper. Therefore, in order to travel, for example, from Simferopol to Kiev, it is necessary for the parents to first go to Ukraine without the child and issue a Ukrainian birth certificate for him, and then a Ukrainian international passport, without which, since the summer of 2015, the child cannot enter Crimea.” , - a representative of one of the companies involved in passenger transportation told the publication.

The publication notes that there is a simpler, but more expensive option to enter Ukraine from another border region.

“In Crimea, everyone is already well aware of this and, in case of travel, they prepare in advance all the necessary papers in two versions. Many residents of the region face similar difficulties. According to Crimean Statistics, since 2014, about 78 thousand children have been born on the peninsula. All of them (except for those born before March 16, 2014) were born in Russian maternity hospitals and received Russian birth certificates, since immediately after the Crimean referendum, Kyiv blocked all its civil registry offices on the peninsula.

Considering the interstate conflict, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Crimea, Irina Klyueva, does not advise residents of the peninsula to travel to Ukraine with children. According to her, there are no guarantees that the Ukrainian authorities will not suddenly and unilaterally change the rules for crossing the border, which could prevent people from returning home,” writes MK.
