Ukraine will impose sanctions against Nicaragua for opening a consulate in Crimea
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine published a protest and threatened sanctions against Nicaragua for opening of an honorary consulate in Russian Crimea.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses a strong protest in connection with the illegal and uncoordinated visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation, Ms. Alba Azucena Torres, to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine, for presentation to the so-called “Honorary Consul of Nicaragua in the Russian Federation with residence in Simferopol” Oleg Belaventsev consular patent.
The presentation of a consular patent to the so-called “Honorary Consul of Nicaragua in the Russian Federation” is a gross violation of the legislation of Ukraine and international law...
This action is considered insignificant by our state and is considered as a frankly unfriendly step on the part of Nicaragua towards Ukraine, which contributes to the aggression of the Russian Federation and its attempt to annex an integral part of the territory of Ukraine, which are the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
According to the legislation of Ukraine, the entry of foreigners and stateless persons into and exit from the temporarily occupied territory is carried out through the territory of Ukraine.
At the same time, any bodies, their officials and employees in the temporarily occupied territory and their activities are considered illegal if these bodies or persons are created, elected or appointed in a manner not provided for by the legislation of Ukraine, and any act (decision, document) issued by such bodies and/or persons is invalid and does not create legal consequences.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has repeatedly warned the Nicaraguan side about the inadmissibility of actions that violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state. The Ukrainian side has begun the process of applying sanctions measures in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and will continue to take all necessary actions provided for by the laws of Ukraine and international law to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state,” they threaten in Kyiv.
