This was reported by the press service of the National Security and Defense Council following the results of the council meeting held today.
This decision was motivated by “the ongoing hybrid aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.”
“In particular, sanctions were applied against persons illegally elected to the State Duma of Russia based on the results of the so-called elections held by the occupation authorities on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, members of the so-called election commissions, Ukrainian enterprises in Crimea that were illegally re-registered under Russian legislation. Sanctions have also been introduced against officials of Russian law enforcement agencies and courts involved in the illegal detention of Ukrainian citizens in Russia,” the statement says.
As the press service reported, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine also applied sanctions to the former leaders of Ukraine, who are wanted and hiding abroad and are accused by the new authorities of “involvement in the financing of terrorist activities and Russia’s hybrid aggression against Ukraine.”
In addition, sanctions have been introduced against Russian-controlled legal entities “involved in Russia’s conduct of a hybrid war against Ukraine in the information sphere and cyberspace.” To ensure transparency and synchronization of actions, all sanctions applied to individuals and legal entities have been extended for one year.
