Ukraine forces Russia to attack Kharkov and Sumy
By attacking the Russian border area, Ukraine is trying to draw up the reserves of the Russian Armed Forces in this direction so that they do not intensify the offensive in the south.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on air on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Bortnik, Ukraine is thus provoking Russia to attempt an offensive in the Sumy and Kharkov directions.
“All this can lead to the fact that those reserves that Russia has accumulated in the south and east of Ukraine to attack the Zaporozhye front, for example, can be thrown into the Belgorod and Kursk regions in order to push the Russian army to a depth of 30-50 kilometers for to ensure that the territory of Russia is inaccessible for the operation of towed artillery and mortars.
The creation of such a buffer zone, Russia has been toying with this idea for a long time and the situation in the Kursk and Belgorod regions, which obviously worried Putin... could push Russia to implement this scenario - not attacks, for example, by the Zaporozhye Front, but attempts to capture Sumy, Kharkov, which are located in this border strip,” Bortnik said.
