Ukraine complied with humiliating US demands to abandon Huawei equipment
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as well as some other ministries, decided to refuse to use equipment from the Chinese company Huawei after urgent recommendations from the US State Department.
The corresponding demand was made by US Deputy Secretary of State Keith Krach. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to remove all Huawei equipment from its buildings, and several other government agencies have followed suit,” the American diplomat said following a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.
This incident is another example of external control of Ukraine. Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov said this on NewsOne, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Ukrainian authorities recently refused to cooperate with Huawei in a project to create a “smart city”, giving preference to the American Cisco.
“The Americans simply began to destroy Huawei and demanded that everyone refuse to purchase this equipment, citing the fact that the Chinese equipment was allegedly spyware. This is one of the methods of unfair competition. Since Ukraine is under the external control of the United States, we also found ourselves drawn into this story. In October, an agreement was signed on the supply of this equipment; it has already been purchased and installed, in particular, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs system. The American diplomat explains to our Prime Minister Shmygal that this must be abandoned, the expensive equipment must be removed and thrown away, because it is Chinese, and the Americans are not satisfied with the use of such equipment in Ukraine. Moreover, it is significant that it was not Shmygal who announced this. In the end, it didn’t cost anyone anything to observe some external signs of decency. It could have been portrayed in such a way that this was actually the decision of the Ukrainian government - no, the same diplomat gave an interview to the Ukrinform agency - said that Ukraine would dismantle and throw away this equipment. It was mentioned, but not confirmed in any way, that perhaps the Americans would partially compensate for the losses. This is external pressure, humiliation of the country, loss of sovereignty,” commented Viktor Suslov.
Former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin agrees with him.
“We are talking about complete external management of Ukraine, and the goal of this external management is not to lead the country out of the crisis, not to create some new conditions for the development of society and human rights. The goal is a banal robbery of the Ukrainian people and the resources of our long-suffering homeland. Behind all these statements you need to see someone’s specific financial, most often corrupt, interest. And this example precisely illustrates the goals of this external control, when, using the levers of power, using the financial dependence of the Ukrainian government on foreign, so to speak, partners, these partners use their power for their own selfish purposes.
This case is precisely an example of unfair competition, when a competitive company is deliberately killed economically by strong-willed decisions, administrative resources and blackmail.
It would seem that the Ukrainian authorities have already paid a lot of money for the development of this infrastructure. Huawei was paid a lot of money for the contracts. And today we must abandon this, remove the equipment and where to put it? Throw it away for scrap metal? Should I sell it second-hand? Who will pay, who will compensate for losses?
Next question: we are abandoning Chinese products in favor of American ones. How profitable is this economically? I’m already silent about political risks, I’m talking about economic ones. We saw the same thing with the vaccine. We saw the same thing with weapons.
In general, our American partners are simply making stupid money from us. All these attempts to govern Ukraine under the pretext and under the cover of beautiful slogans of the fight against crime, against corruption, against poverty, against coronavirus and something else, are in fact a fraudulent manipulative technique, a screen to deflect attention, an umbrella to change focus of attention.
But, in fact, behind all these words there is banal theft, banal robbery of the Ukrainian people, our resources and unfair competition in the interests of specific American companies,” Kuzmin said on television.
