“It is necessary to raise the issue of reviving the Ukrainian Naval Forces under the appropriate national program. This is also a matter of the continental thinking of our elite, which does not understand the importance of a full-fledged Navy for a state with access to the sea.
Taking into account the real physical, geographical and geopolitical conditions, we need to have two full-fledged naval groups - in the Azov and Black Seas with the corresponding branches of forces, with formations and units.
The issue of ship composition is the most pressing. In the changed conditions, we can quickly restore the boat component of our fleet. This, by the way, is not a new approach, the so-called gunboat or junk strategy as in China, where they have proven effective. This does not require a huge amount of resources - it only requires understanding and will and proper prioritization. The so-called mosquito fleet can be quite effective,” the admiral believes.
