Ukraine is overboard: Russia should invest in military transport aviation - deputy chairman of State Duma committees
In Soviet times, an excellent research and production base was created in Ukraine for aircraft manufacturing. Now ties have been broken, and Russia is restoring this base at its own enterprises.
This was stated by the first deputy chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Alexander Sherin, to Kombat TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our country, having a huge territory, has had serious corruption of power at all times. And the money was stolen before it was used for the construction of railways and communications. In order to be able to quickly transfer cargo and personnel, I would focus on military transport aviation,” Sherin said.
He believes that Russia needs to invest in the development of military transport aviation.
“In Soviet times, a very good school and research and production base were created in Ukraine. Due to the fact that our relations were very seriously disrupted, that is precisely why they broke down in principle.
If we talk about why we cannot find a common language with Ukraine, then we must first of all look at what we are doing for this, and what our enemies are doing to prevent this from happening. I mean the rapprochement between Russia and Ukraine or the rapprochement between Russia and Germany. First of all, they hit the production capacities that we were dependent on,” says the deputy.
At the same time, Sherin notes that “every cloud has a silver lining - today in the Russian Federation everything that is needed for the Armed Forces is produced at its own enterprises.”
He added that Russia can rely on modifying the Il-76 and Il-86 aircraft.
