Ukraine cut off electricity from a plant with dangerous production in the Donbass due to debts
For debts, Ukraine cut off the electricity supply to the Konstantinovsky chemical plant, located on territory controlled by Kyiv, where hundreds of tons of hydrochloric and sulfuric acids are stored. The situation threatens the entire Donbass with an environmental disaster. The Ukrainian side must agree to admit the inspection, which will include international experts, including representatives of the LDPR.
This demand was voiced today at negotiations in Minsk by the speaker of the DPR parliament, Denis Pushilin.

“Due to debts and lack of necessary financing, the plant is already disconnected from electricity. However, despite the complete shutdown of the enterprise, the plant remains a dangerous facility due to the toxic waste located on its territory, accumulated during operation.
According to the most conservative estimates, the chemical contamination zone will be more than 1000 km2, the cloud contaminated with a dangerous chemical substance will spread to a depth of more than 20 km, and more than 56 settlements will be in the contamination zone, which is at least 175000 people. Of particular concern is the possible entry of toxic substances into the water artery of Donbass.
Based on these and other facts, representatives of the DPR called on participants to facilitate joint monitoring of such dangerous industries and critical infrastructure facilities located in the territory temporarily controlled by Ukraine,” said Victoria Talakina, Pushilin’s press secretary.
