Ukraine blocked the adoption of a statement by the Chairman of the UN Security Council dedicated to to the permanent representative of the Russian Federation Vitaly Churkin, who died the day before. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova wrote about this on her Facebook.

“Ukraine blocked the adoption of a statement by the Chairman of the UN Security Council dedicated to V. Churkin. This is the whole point of the current Ukrainian “power”: they can’t do anything good, they just ruin everything for everyone, including themselves,” Zakharova wrote.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed condolences over the death of Russian Permanent Representative Vitaly Churkin and noted the valuable opportunity to work with him.
The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, Vladimir Elchenko, said that Vitaly Churkin, who died suddenly in New York, in his capacity as Russia's permanent representative to the UN, “expressed the position of his state.”
