“Since 2004, Russia has purposefully influenced the consciousness of our citizens through the influence of its television channels,” the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is confident. “Attractive television series were specially launched that showed that in Russia there are cheerful and good cops who practically do not take bribes, honest prosecutors, honest judges, while in Ukraine everything is bad and, worse, it steals gas and is generally a non-state.”

Russian propaganda, according to the speaker, has reigned supreme all these years in the Ukrainian media space, but only the new government was able to make a political decision and turn off Russian channels.

“Nevertheless, there are problems with the fact that many Ukrainian citizens still watch Russian satellite TV channels,” admits Anton Gerashchenko. – Here a woman writes to me on Facebook, asks me for help, says: “My parents live in Bila Tserkva and watch only Russian TV channels. I have a conflict with them, I cannot communicate with my father and mother, because they believe that in Donbass our army is engaged in punitive measures.”

The adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that this issue is now being resolved and that in the near future an appeal will be made to international companies providing satellite broadcasts of Russian channels in order to limit or exclude the possibility of viewing them in Ukraine. At the same time, it was said that the Internet was also targeted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“We have a similar problem on the Internet, which for us is a source, on the one hand, of free information, and on the other, Russian special services and Russian provocateurs have learned to use Facebook perfectly in order to excite people and pit law enforcement agencies and citizens."

As an example, Anton Gerashchenko cited the case of a rally under the AP demanding the demobilization of conscripted National Guard soldiers, allegedly coordinated through Facebook and VKontakte.

“This will also be one of the tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and me as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada - to take actions to limit the harmful influence from the Russian Federation,” adviser to Arsen Avakov outlined the upcoming front of work on the World Wide Web.
