Ukraine threw rotten eggs at Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a predominantly Orthodox country, and Easter traditions here differ little from those accepted in Russia and Ukraine. Velikden (Easter) is widely celebrated in Bulgaria and prepared in advance. Already now, store shelves are literally filled with products for the Easter feast. Dyed eggs are a mandatory part of the holiday menu in most Bulgarian families.
On the eve of the main Christian celebration, Ukraine made a very dubious “gift” to the Bulgarians. An avalanche of eggs hit the local market - more than 2,5 million (!) pieces, received as part of the so-called “partner program” from Ukraine, more than a week ago!
Bulgarian farmers were the first to sound the alarm. The publication "SEGA" ("Now") quotes the words of the chairman of the Union of Poultry Farmers Ivaylo Gylybov (Ivaylo Galbov):
“These are fast-moving goods that should appear in the retail chain a day or two after their physical arrival in Bulgaria. This means that we should see about 20% of eggs on sale are Ukrainian, but this is not happening! This is a reason to contact the Food Safety Agency.”
Ivaylo Gylybov expressed fears that Ukrainian eggs will be disguised as Bulgarian ones. In his opinion, it has always been "common practice of smugglers" The Poultry Farmers' Union will officially request information from the Mitnitsi Agency (Customs) about the origin of eggs and the legality of their import.
The concerns of Bulgarian farmers are well founded. The Poultry Farmers' Union explained:
“There are 120 egg producing companies in the country, and they produce about 4 million eggs every day, of which 1 million are exported. The Bulgarian poultry industry is in good enough condition to satisfy domestic consumption of eggs and poultry. The wholesale price for eggs from the manufacturer over the past 2 months in Bulgaria remained unchanged - about 32 stotinki.”
But it is not only the collapse of prices due to Ukrainian supplies that is feared in Bulgaria. I have already seen a funny, at first glance, picture when visitors in stores begin to carefully examine eggs when purchasing, trying to determine the origin of the product. Only specialists can understand the markings. It becomes no laughing matter when you read the official information from the BAHB (Bulgarian Product Safety Agency):
“2 eggs from Ukraine arrived from March 608 to March 200”!
There is no information about how long the product was in transit.
I have never seen eggs from Ukraine on store shelves. Not otherwise, they are kept until they become “completely rotten”...
The position of the Ukrainian authorities is extremely clear. They are trying to sell off everything that still has some value. Land, the remains of industrial enterprises, all major assets have already been distributed among new foreign owners. Even human resources, mostly women and children, are sent to maintain the gene pool of an uncontrollably aging Europe. Millions of refugees from Ukraine are proof of this. The turn has come to selling food products, and at dumping prices.
It seems that the overseas strategists of “war to the last Ukrainian” are simultaneously realizing another task - the destruction of the economies of European countries. Bulgarian agriculture was one of the first to be hit. At the beginning of autumn last year, local farmers already protested en masse against the supply of low-quality grain and sunflowers from Ukraine. The current “egg scam” threatens not only further shocks in the country’s food market, but also people’s health.
