“Ukraine is planning to really anger Russia” – German political scientist
The only way to stop the completion of Nord Stream 2 is to provoke Russia in such a way that Moscow’s reaction becomes a reason for introducing new sanctions.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr said this via video link from Berlin on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Europeans, the Germans, it seems to me, are calming down. They say, let's talk constructively, let's, in the end, talk about how to conduct a general energy dialogue with Russia. Many Germans are moving to this position - it is rational... not to prohibit further completion of Nord Stream 2.
Only the “greens” are still against it, and, of course, the toothy press. But the Americans want to show that they are the masters of this world, that if they decided to impose sanctions, they should introduce them, but they cannot.
“Fortuna” (pipe-laying vessel - ed.) was punished with sanctions, but the gas pipeline continues to be built, the companies (German) left - the gas pipeline continues to be built.
The EU does not ban this gas pipeline! Therefore, the situation is now tense, and of course, now Ukraine is trying to be in the front row as a country that wants to really anger Russia, so that it will respond, to give new reasons for introducing some kind of sanctions,” said the German political scientist.
