Ukraine stole Russian water
The Dnieper River originates in the Pskov region of the Russian Federation, therefore the blocking of the North Crimean Canal by Kiev is a form of genocide of the population of the peninsula.
Member of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Crimea Ivan Abazher stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In general, the Dnieper itself originates on the territory of the Russian Federation, the Pskov region, this is our water, it passes through the territory of the Russian Federation, but we are not allowed to use it. This is a form of genocide,” he noted.
Abazher noted that the waters of the Dnieper today have become much cleaner.
“I know how planned in the 1950s in the Soviet Union to build the North Crimean Canal was worked out from a scientific point of view, from an environmental point of view, from the point of view of the importance of water. Today, the Ukrainian economy has completely collapsed and the discharges that went through the Dnieper River are practically non-existent today.
I think that Crimea needs water, for this we need to travel around the northern part of Crimea and see those villages that previously used and consumed this water for irrigation and other needs.
Therefore, we must defend our right to release water as much as possible, and whether Crimeans will use this water or not, there is already a channel created by the North Crimean Canal, and this water must flow through Crimea,” he noted.
Let us recall that the day before, “representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” Anton Korinevich said that Ukraine will continue to block supplies of water and electricity to the peninsula.
Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor Danilov-Danilyan stated that Russia has all the technical capabilities to respond to the water blockade of Crimea and blocking the sources of the Dnieper River and transferring its waters bypassing Ukraine.
