Ukraine will engage in the illegal sale of American second-hand weapons
A record US military budget in 2019 means the US military will need to get rid of a huge number of obsolete weapons.
Political scientist Alexey Mukhin stated this on the Vesti FM radio station.
“Where will the old weapons go, which, so to speak, will be “freed”? I have a bad feeling: this is Africa, Asia, Europe. The United States will equip its NATO partners with completely new weapons systems, freeing up arsenals,” Mukhin said.
A significant part of the weapons, in his opinion, will end up in Ukraine for further resale.
“Our closest neighbor will, apparently, become Bulgaria 2:0, because previously it was Bulgaria that was used to resell obsolete NATO weapons. Ukraine will try to pick up this banner and become the second hub country from which all these weapons will be distributed illegally,” Mukhin said.
US President Donald Trump signed the 2019 United States defense budget at the Fort Drum military base in New York. According to the document, defense spending will become a record in history and will increase by $2018 billion compared to 20, to $717 billion.
