Ukraine took another journalist hostage
In Kyiv, a search has been ongoing for more than 12 hours in the apartment of pro-Russian journalist Vladimir Skachko. The case is being conducted by the fake “prosecutor’s office of Crimea,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“My colleagues continue to wait for the end of the search in Vladimir Skachko’s apartment. The door is still closed, no one is allowed in - no one is allowed out. Let me remind you that the search began early in the morning and has been going on for almost 12 hours.
The police, who were called to the scene, said that permission to search the journalist’s apartment was issued by the Kherson City Court at the request of the Crimean prosecutor’s office.
It was with the decision of the Kherson City Court that the case of the chief editor of RIA Novosti Ukraine, Kirill Vyshinsky, began. Who has been in a pre-trial detention center without alternative since May 2017. His case is just going to trial. Crimean-Kherson prosecutors, in fact, simply needed to choose a new victim for political bargaining.
According to the press service of the SBU, Vladimir, like Vyshinsky, is charged with a “separatist” article – Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code – for allegedly collaborating with Russian media agencies. Only Kirill has Article 111 – treason.
Consequently, in case of detention, the Kherson pre-trial detention center will be used,” said Natalya Natalina, head of the human rights group “Uspishna Varta”.
Artur Zhurbenko, one of Skachko’s defenders on duty near his apartment, reported that an unknown woman entered the journalist’s apartment.
“A woman came in with a package. She was brought in a black Octavia with license plates AA 6215 IM
The contents of the package are unknown,” Zhurbenko said.
