“According to the information I have, a ceasefire agreement was indeed signed on Friday evening. Deputy Chief of the General Staff General Dumansky signed on behalf of the military leadership. From the DPR - Zakharchenko. It is being observed today,” said Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Alexander Kikhtenko.
He also noted that he does not exclude the possibility of exchanging territories with the militias.
“Indeed, there are disputed areas along the line that was established as a result of the Minsk agreements. There are territories that are under the control of the DPR. Therefore, if the question arises of exchanging these settlements for an airport, the decision will be made at a high level,” the governor said.
At the same time, he emphasized that such a decision can only be made at the highest level.
“On the one hand, Donetsk airport has become a symbol of the heroism of our soldiers. But on the other hand, there are daily shellings, killed and wounded Ukrainian soldiers. Moreover, the airport as an infrastructural and strategic facility was destroyed. And here we need correct, informed, timely decisions,” Kikhtenko said.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier ex-governor Sergei Taruta said that they were negotiations on the exchange of Donetsk airport for territory near the city. In addition, DPR Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko stated that the demarcation line had been determined. But in Kyiv they speak contradictorily about the existence of such a document, periodically either denying its existence or refuting it.
