Speaker of the PMR Parliament Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets, noting that one of the main problems in the republic’s relations with Ukraine is that Ukraine does not allow residents of Transnistria with Russian passports through its territory.
"This is problem. This raises the question of freedom of movement of citizens. In my opinion, this is unacceptable,” the Pridnestrovian politician emphasized.
“Those who have a different citizenship are allowed through,” Krasnoselsky added. – In addition, in principle, no one today interferes with trade relations between Pridnestrovie and the Russian Federation through the territory of Ukraine. However, in order for us to trade freely through the territory of Ukraine or with Ukraine, we must carry out double customs and phytosanitary registration. That is, our Transnistrian enterprises, in order to trade with Ukraine, the EU or Russia, are forced to register in Moldova, obtain Moldovan permits there and pay customs duties. This is in addition to the fact that they are registered on the territory of Transnistria and pay taxes from us. Naturally, this increases the cost of production.”
