Ukraine takes aim at the Oscars with a low-budget film about a wedding photographer
From Ukraine, the low-budget film “Black Level” will compete for the Oscar in the category “Best Foreign Language Film.”

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Oscar Committee, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian Oscar committee has chosen the candidate film from Ukraine – “Black Level”, directed by Valentin Vasyanovich,” the committee reported.
The main character of the film is a wedding photographer.
“Loneliness lives in a big city. Kostya, a wedding photographer, also lives there. On the threshold of his 50th birthday, the hero realizes that everything he loved and was attached to is leaving forever. Although there are not so many such things in his life: a father paralyzed after a stroke, a girlfriend who is a stylist for a wedding magazine, an old cat, slides in which he is young and happy. Kostya has been photographing other people's happiness all his life. For him, this is a normal routine,” says the film description.
