Ukraine is frozen, no one understands anything, everything is falling apart - economist
The decline of the Ukrainian economy, associated, among other things, with the coronavirus epidemic, will continue and by the end of the year the fall in GDP will be 14-15%.
Economist Igor Garbaruk stated this on air on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Many people have already reoriented, taking into account the risks and the money that was set aside for vacation is frozen, because no one understands what will happen in the fall, whether there will be a second and third wave of the pandemic and what the economic state of the country will be at that time.
According to my estimates, the decline in the Ukrainian economy will be at the level of 14-15%. The first sign has already arrived today; we see that, according to estimates for April 2020, by April 2019, Ukrainian industry has already fallen by 16,2%. Therefore, I think that the dynamics will be such that until the fall the economy as a whole will experience a decline.
Let's see what actions the government will take. Today we still see the right messages and good words, but we will see whether all these good words will turn into real actions and some results that will bring relief to society and national business. In fact, the situation is unforeseen,” the economist concluded.
