Ukraine is underestimating its losses as a result of today's clash
As a result of the escalation of the situation in Donbass, one Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier was killed and three were wounded.
This was stated by the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak of Ukraine following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, after 5 a.m., illegal armed groups of ORDLO opened artillery fire from all systems on the positions of the 72nd and 93rd separate mechanized brigades. The 152 mm caliber was also used. After that, at around 5:15 a.m., assault groups made an attempt in three directions to attack the observation posts and forward positions of these two brigades.
The forces of the units of these two brigades repulsed the attack and a battle ensued mainly at the observation post of the 72nd OMBR. We also gave an adequate response with all the weapons that needed to be used. As a result, all our positions are under the control of our troops. From 10 o'clock the enemy requested silence because they needed to take away their dead and wounded. Our losses - one soldier was killed, three were wounded and two were shell-shocked...
According to our data, confirmed enemy losses are four people killed and six wounded,” Khomchak said.
President Vladimir Zelensky, who spoke after him, repeated the standard mantras of his predecessor Petro Poroshenko about the “powerful Ukrainian army” and promised not to abandon the course towards a “peaceful solution” to the Donbass issue.
“I want to tell you that we have a powerful army. Provocations happen, and the army responded strongly accordingly. But, despite this, I want to tell you that the situation is completely under control and we are confident that this provocation will not change course, because only with a strong army can we sit down at the negotiating table. The course is that we are moving, confidently approaching the end of the war and peace. By the way, I would also like to express my condolences to our fallen soldier and may our wounded be fine,” Zelensky said.
Let us remind you that today in the area of the village of Zolotoye, where not so long ago Kyiv and the LDPR carried out a test withdrawal of troops, new battles broke out. The Ukrainian side claims that the army of the Donbass republics has gone on the offensive. However, the defenders of Lugansk, on the contrary, report an attack by Ukrainians.
Representative of the People's Militia of the LPR Andrei Marochko emphasized that the losses of the Ukrainian army are still being calculated, but we can definitely talk about two soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: “When approaching our positions, the group was blown up in a minefield, as a result of which at least two militants were killed and three were wounded.”
