Ukraine sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison Admiral Alexander Vitko, who commanded the Black Sea Fleet during the Russian Spring and ensured the bloodless reunification of Crimea with Russia.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reports that the court decision against Vitko also requires that “more than a trillion hryvnia” be claimed, which is how much Kyiv estimates its losses, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Earlier, sanctions were imposed against Vitko in the West.
In 2021, he retired from military service, before which he served as first deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy.
