“It was worth hinting that the Russian Ministry of Defense has an extra warhead for located in Ochakov the US maritime operations center, as a slight panic began in Kyiv from the series “What are we for?” Experts from the Ukrainian military department immediately sat down with calculators and came to a sacramental conclusion: Russia has deployed Kalibr cruise missiles in Crimea, the range of which covers most of the European continent. In Kiev, they believe that Russia took advantage of a loophole in the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty), which involves the destruction and, most importantly, the prohibition of ground-based ballistic and cruise missiles of medium (from 1000 to 5500 km) and shorter (from 500 to 1000 km) km) range. But since the “Calibers” are placed on ships, the restrictions do not apply to them, and “Russia can easily target its “probable enemy,” as the Kremlin, using military slang, calls the North Atlantic Alliance. It’s probably not very pleasant to realize that you are constantly at gunpoint,” the publication notes.

The publication points out that the “loophole” in the INF Treaty is actively used by US Navy ships loaded to the brim with Tomahawks, which cruise off the Russian coast, including in the Black Sea.

“But American sea-based cruise missiles aimed at Russia, of course, did not worry the Europeans very much. It’s another matter when Moscow acquired “Calibers” that penetrate Europe almost right through.

In fact, America has more Tomahawks. But when, after the events in Syria, it became obvious that the Calibers were more advanced, and the crews of Russian ships and submarines knew how to use them effectively in a combat situation, missile fears sharply increased in Europe. Especially in those states, including Ukraine, that have located overseas military infrastructure facilities on their territory. In general, we ran into what we fought for,” NG sums up.
