Ukraine suspects Moldova of radioactive smuggling
“Modern highly efficient complexes” for automated tracking of the movement of radioactive substances and nuclear materials of the “TSA” type “RAPISCAN” were installed at the Starokazachye checkpoint on the border of Moldova with Ukraine.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports this on its official website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The same complexes are installed on the border with Russia.
“A foreign delegation, which included representatives of the US Department of Energy, the LANL National Laboratory and equipment manufacturing companies Aecom, Apogee group, and Rapiscan, checked the functionality of the installed equipment and, after accepting it for operation, handed it over to representatives of border detachments ", the message says.
It is noted that since 2005, 74 checkpoints have been equipped with stationary complexes. In addition, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine also received 20 vehicle-based systems.
