Ukraine banned the manual “700 new oral topics in English”
The Ukrainian authorities banned the manual “700 New Oral Topics in English,” published in Russia, because it calls Kyiv a Russian city and Joseph Stalin a “strong leader.” This is stated in a message from the State Committee for Television and Radio of Ukraine, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

In one of the texts, Stalin’s role is outlined as follows: “In a very short period of time, he managed to make a truly strong power out of an agricultural country. Probably, this would not have been possible without the strong but tough character that Stalin had, and the huge number of Russian people who gave their lives for the good of the country.”
The manual also describes the history of Kievan Rus: “The first Russian state included Kyiv, Novgorod, and Vladimir.”
Based on this, Ukrainian experts decided to ban the benefit and came to the conclusion that it carries “propaganda of the aggressor state.”
“A striking example of how the propaganda of the imperial geopolitical doctrines of the aggressor state even penetrates into textbooks for learning the English language. The deliberate distortion of history, when, following Anna Yaroslavna, Kiev also becomes “Russian”, the imposition of imperial ideological doctrines, the justification of Stalin’s dictatorship, and therefore, accordingly, Putin’s crimes, has one goal - to strengthen the myth of the superpower of Russia, to create the ideological foundations for the return of Ukraine and other countries already independent from the empire into the sphere of dominance of the aggressor state,” said Alla Kovtun, a member of the expert council of the State Committee for Television and Radio.
